GEFA Fabritz Tree straps are the traditional method to stabilize young trees during their early years. In addition to stabilizing the tree and ensuring straight growth, tree straps can also provide added protection in urban environments against damage from cars or leaned bicycles.
The simple installation and familiar appearance in urban spaces are strong arguments for why the traditional stake binding is still widely used for tree planting. Its components include wooden stakes, crossbars, and binding material. Different types of stake bindings are distinguished:
The "Diagonal Stake Binding": A stake is usually installed diagonally against the wind direction and should protrude no more than 10 cm above the trunk.
The "Two-Stake Support": Typically used for smaller trees (e.g., 16–18 cm circumference), often implemented in a lower version. GEFA offers premium textile straps for this purpose.
The Classic "Three-Stake Support": The most common variant in urban environments, increasingly used as a low version as well.
The "Four-Stake Support": Primarily used for large tree transplantations and often equipped with rubber buffers between the stake and trunk.
We have chosen to include a curated selection of binding materials and accessories in our portfolio.
The Tree Straps Binding
THE LOW VERSION
The low tree strap binding has become the standard for tree stabilization in the UK, Scandinavia, and the Netherlands. This type of binding requires only one-third of the usual stabilization height. A tree strap binding is designed to support the tree during its establishment phase and keep it in position. If the root ball is displaced during this phase, newly formed roots can be torn as they are not yet strong enough. Advantages of low tree strap binding:
Plants Grow According to Their Needs. Despite the stabilization, the tree retains freedom of movement and can adapt to the requirements of its location. Since the leverage effect is greater with low tree strap binding, we recommend using a wide tree strap, such as the Premium Tree Strap with approximately 66 mm width or the Jute Tree Strap with about 70 mm width. This helps to distribute the increased shear force over a larger area.

GEFA FABRITZ
Textile Straps
THE BEGINNING OF GEFA
Textile tree straps were the first products distributed by GEFA over 30 years ago in the field of gardening and landscaping. This laid the foundation for the specialized provider of solutions for urban tree planting. Since then, the straps have been further developed, with various versions introduced over time.
The premium strap combines the benefits of proven polyester fabric and is quick, gentle, and cost-effective to apply. Its innovative features include a modified weave, an optimized color change, and growth allowance (elasticity) integrated into the material.
To prevent friction on the trunk, it is recommended to install a protective sleeve. This helps safeguard the delicate bark of young trees, especially during spring. At GEFA Fabritz, we offer a variety of products to protect tree trunks.
The GEFA tree strap made of brown polyester premium straps is available for traditional stake binding in three different variants. The tree strap is used for smaller trees, bare-root stock, and when collision protection is required.
Product variants of GEFA Fabritz Premium Tree Strap:
Made from 100% natural jute fiber, the GROWtect tree straps are available in two widths. These eco-friendly binding straps are durable and ideal for gardens, parks, and urban green spaces. Another excellent binding material now available at GEFA, it is easy to use and gentle on plants. The natural fibers provide stability without damaging the bark or hindering tree growth.
The anti-abrasion hose prevents friction on the tree bark under challenging weather conditions, such as wind and rain. Proper pressure distribution and abrasion protection are vital for the durability of securing components and the health of the tree. For this purpose, we offer a selection of anti-abrasion hoses, pressure-distributing protectors, and loop straps.
These hoses protect the bark from damage, particularly in storm-prone regions. Made from high-quality, durable materials, our anti-abrasion hoses provide superior protection while remaining flexible to allow the tree's natural movement. This ensures long-term tree health and stability.
In addition to tree straps, GEFA offers a comprehensive range of products to support your tree stabilization needs. These include durable fastening materials, a practical tool bag to keep everything organized, and a reliable staple gun to ensure efficient and secure application.
