The essential function of this innovative absorber is to increase the water-holding capacity of the soil, improve organic matter, and enhance soil fertility. The use of Retentis® not only provides effective protection against drought but also enables the sustainable transformation of unproductive soils into fertile agricultural land. This allows plantings to be protected from drought stress, even where traditional synthetic hydrogels and water-retaining mixtures could not be used.

The hydrogel, made from 100% lignin (wood), stores water during rainy periods or scheduled watering cycles and releases it to plants during dry spells.
