FUNDAMENTALS

Above-ground tree anchoring systems play a crucial role in stabilizing larger trees, especially those with high wind exposure, in exposed locations, during large tree transplants, or for post-storm stabilization and straightening.

These specialized systems often consist of steel or strong textile cables, typically attached at the crown base and secured into the ground with earth anchors. Design variations can provide the tree with the necessary flexibility to allow natural movement, promoting root development.

Tree anchoring, like staking and root ball anchoring, should be regularly inspected to ensure the fixtures are neither too tight nor too loose.

GEFA tree anchoring systems are:

  • Safe and tree-friendly
  • Easy to install
  • Cost-effective
  • Secure against tampering

TREELOCK®

TREE ANCHORING WITH STEEL CABLE

TREE ANCHORING

WITH STEEL CABLE

The anchoring system was developed as an exceptionally strong above-ground securing method. Various versions, tailored to tree size and location, allow for individual application. Installation is simple and quick, requiring only basic tools and a driving rod.

Components

Steel cables secured with ground anchors provide reliable stability. Wide textile loop straps, equipped with additional textile abrasion protection, ensure a particularly gentle attachment in the branch forks at the crown base. Turnbuckles enable individual adjustments after planting or when straightening trees after storm damage.

GEFA tree anchoring sets include: 3 flat steel anchors, 3 loop straps with turnbuckles and carabiners. Three versions are available for trunk circumferences up to 25 cm, up to 50 cm, and over 50 cm. Extra heavy anchoring systems are available for larger trees.

In special situations, such as roof greening or trees in containers, where ground anchors cannot be used, tree anchoring versions without ground anchors are available. The rest of the set components remain the same.

The GEFA tree anchoring versions do not include steel cables or steel cable clamps. Steel cable is available in 100-meter rolls for efficient processing with minimal waste. For "light" and "medium" anchoring types, 12 steel cable clamps per set are required; for the "heavy" type, 9 clamps per set (cable doubled). For the "extra heavy" tree anchoring system, an 8 mm steel cable with matching steel cable clamps is used.

TREE ANCHORING

STRETCHABLE

To give young trees with a trunk circumference of up to 50 cm light above-ground movement flexibility, GEFA Fabritz has developed the stretchable tree anchoring system with textile ropes. The bright red ropes allow the young tree movement up to a predefined limit. This enables the roots to adjust to future loads, promoting site-specific and secure growth.
This variant is available pre-assembled for trees with trunk circumferences of up to 25 cm or 50 cm.

Components

The GEFA tree anchoring sets already include the required textile rope (unlike their steel counterparts) and consist of:

3 flat steel anchors, 3 loop straps with turnbuckles, and carabiners.

Two versions are available for trunk circumferences of up to 25 cm and up to 50 cm, with 3 m or 4 m of textile rope per connection. This version is not available without anchors.

Stretchable Tree Anchoring up to 25 cm

For trees up to 25 cm trunk circumference. The set includes 3 ground anchors, each equipped with 3 m ("light") rope per anchor, 3 turnbuckles with carabiners, and 3 loop straps.
