In the course of the increasing importance of tree planting, tree preservation and simultaneous protection of the urban infrastructure, the topic of tree protection on construction sites is becoming more and more important. That's why GEFA decided to create space for this area in the product portfolio as well: with the appropriate aids, tools, essential solutions, but also the corresponding practical and theoretical background.
We're here to support you.

For tree protection on construction sites, individual regulations from clients and municipalities from DIN 18920 (status 2014), RAS-LP 4 (status 1986) and ZTV tree care (status 2017) come into play.
In the case of short-term assignments or daily construction sites in particular, however, the implementation is usually unsatisfactory or not at all. The new, mobile tree protection TreehugAir® now provides a remedy specifically for the two above-mentioned areas of application.
The TreehugAir®. was developed from practice. It comes as a protective mat made of 2-layer drop-stitch PVC material. The material connects the upper and lower layers with tear-resistant threads. The protective mat can thus be filled with higher pressure and is significantly stiffer and more resistant.
Thanks to minimal space requirements, low weight and the air filling, it is easy to transport, extremely quick to set up and offers optimal tree and root collar protection with maximum warning function thanks to the eye-catching design.
Advantages:
- low weight and minimal space requirement- Assembly and disassembly in minutes- absolute tree and root collar protection- Warning function through eye-catching printing- one solution for all tree sizes and reusable
The reusable solution for all tree sizes is now available exclusively from GEFA Produkte Fabritz GmbH.
As the importance of tree planting, preservation, and protection of urban infrastructure continues to grow, the topic of tree protection on construction sites is becoming increasingly significant. For this reason, GEFA has decided to dedicate space in its product portfolio to this area as well: with suitable tools, equipment, and essential solutions.
In addition to specific regulations, standards such as DIN 18920 (as of 2014), R SBB (formerly RAS-LP 4), and ZTV Baumpflege (as of 2017) apply to tree protection on construction sites. However, particularly for short-term use or daily construction sites, implementation is often unsatisfactory or entirely absent.
The new mobile TreehugAir® tree protection mat offers a solution specifically designed for these applications. Developed with practical use in mind, the TreehugAir® is a protective mat made of 2-layer drop-stitch PVC material. This material connects the top and bottom layers with tear-resistant threads. As a result, the mat can be inflated to a higher pressure, making it significantly stiffer and more durable.

Trees and Construction Sites
GROWtect TREE PROTECTION COLLAR
On long-term construction sites and extended projects, wooden slats with drainage hoses have traditionally been effective for protection and spacing but are not particularly aesthetically pleasing. A well-visible and neat tree protection solution, however, serves as a calling card for any construction company. The GROWtect tree protection collar ensures that trees on construction sites are securely protected within minutes per tree. For ease of use, the GROWtect collars are delivered pre-cut and can be adjusted on-site as needed.
No tools are required. With the included zip ties, the collar can be securely fastened to trees on construction sites without causing damage. The tree protection collars are made of softwood planks mounted on three flexible carrier hoses. The carrier hoses not only act as spacers resting on the tree trunk but also serve as a crumple zone in case of mechanical impact.

LITE-ROOTPROTECT
In addition to trunk protection, relevant standards and guidelines emphasize proper care for roots: "They must be continuously protected from drying out and frost throughout the duration of the project." A suitable root curtain is the preferred solution. The innovative LITE-ROOTPROTECT root protection bandage safeguards exposed tree roots on construction sites not only from sun and damage but also ensures they remain consistently moist. This bandage retains water significantly better than conventional construction site fabrics or jute mats. At the end of the project, the LITE-ROOTPROTECT can simply be covered with soil.
The approximately 4 mm thick LITE-ROOTPROTECT is made from a 100% biodegradable water-storing fleece composed of cellulose fibers, making it an ideal root curtain solution.
ADVANTAGES:
Protection against UV and mechanical damage
Continuous moisture retention
100% biodegradable
Easily covered with soil at the end of the project
For precise exposure of roots, root collars, and trunk bases on construction sites. Made of carbon steel.
